Our half and full day trips take fishers out into the sheltered waters of Coromandel Harbour close to the mussel farms.

The way it works
Mussels are seeded onto long lines that are suspended into the harbour off large buoys. When the mussels are harvested the lines are pulled up onto barges. Sediment and waste from the lines are stirred into the water acting as a natural burley.
Fish species
Snapper in particular are attracted to the mussel farms in the Firth of Thames and Coromandel Harbour. They are one of New Zealand’s most commonly recreationally caught fish. Snapper are long living, and can reach an age of 60 years.
